TRACK AND TRACE PROTECTION: COMBINE COUNTERFEIT PROTECTION WITH SERIALIZATION INTO A QR CODE
Secured QR Code is a standard QR code with an additional layer of security that allows the detection of copying. The invisible anti-counterfeit QR code solution called “secured QR code” is applied during the printing process of your existing standard QR code. We add randomly some micro holes of approximately 20 to 40 microns in the black area of the QR code. The detection would be made by a dedicated smartphone application. The design of the code will remain the same.
The main benefit is that the fraudulent attacks will copy the QR code but without AlpVision anti-counterfeiting solution integrated. Therefore, this technology is used as a decoy.
Cryptoglyph can also be used to secure the QR code by simply applying it on top of the QR code. The choice of Secured QR Code versus Cryptoglyph depends on your business case.
MATRIX CODES READY
Track and Trace Protection is especially well suited for products that already carry a standard code printed on labels, folding boxes or packaging. It may be applicable on the different type of matrix codes such as QR code, bar code, aztec, data matrix etc. Easily deployed worldwide, this technology is well suited for high production numbers. This technology is very similar to our Cryptoglyph® solution which adds micro holes to the entire varnish layer of the packaging with the addition of QR code product authentication.
A SMARTPHONE AS DETECTION DEVICE
A dedicated application is used to authenticate the AlpVision secured QR code. This app can be launched on both iOS and Android smartphones. In addition, the application also works offline and takes less than 3 seconds to authenticate. Usually, this solution is deployed internally or for government authorities – for example at borders.
They don’t use the smartphone standard camera app to read the QR code but use the AlpVision dedicated application. The scanning of the code will be exactly the same. However, the message will inform of the authenticity of the product.
EASY IMPLEMENTATION OF TRACK AND TRACE PROTECTION
We will add microscopic holes (20-40 microns) in the back area of the printed QR codes during the current standard printing process. AlpVision will simply provide artwork which will be digitally encoded on the standard one. Consequently, your QR code will visually remain the same. Moreover, no special consumables such as ink are necessary and there is no additional production cost. It is easily deployed across many printing suppliers around the world.

It is important to note that AlpVision is not a special matrix code provider. We simply add an invisible solution during the printing process.

AlpVision Brand Monitoring System – BMS – is a centralized server collecting valuable information related to authentication of your products around the world in real-time.
The platform allows control of authentication applications, devices, and users through an intuitive web interface. Collected data provides information such as: number of detections, location, date, and even images.
